A booster pack is a factory-sealed pack of randomized trading cards from a specific set. Card counts vary by game: 10 in Pokémon, 14 in a Magic Play Booster, 9 in Yu-Gi-Oh!, 12 in One Piece and Lorcana, and 16 in Star Wars Unlimited. You never know exactly which cards are inside — that randomness is the appeal, and also the reason singles are often the smarter buy for a specific card.

A booster box is simply a sealed case of packs — usually 24 to 36 depending on the game — and it almost always has a lower price per pack than buying packs individually.
